Renata
Reich Moise was born in Hancock, Maine in 1960, the only child of Eva
Reich, M.D. and William Moise.
As a child, Renata painted in her father’s studio, absorbing his use of
color and technique.
William Moise, who felt he had spent two years unlearning
what he was taught during his Masters Program, did not encourage Renata to
attend art school. She painted with her father until his death in
1980. She has spent the years since his
death happily painting, and now also delivers babies at Maine Coast
Memorial Hospital in Ellsworth. She obtained a Masters Degree
in Nurse Midwifery at the
University
of
Pennsylvania
in 1994, continuing to paint throughout (including a painting as part of a
project on theory): painting
is the one essential element for sanity and joy in her life.
Renata
lives across the rural road from the farm
she was born in, still using her late father’s studio for indoor
contemplation and completion.
For most of her painting she ventures outside, in all weather, using a
portable easel and pack basket.
Her paintings hang in collections throughout the
United States, as well as
Australia,
Italy,
and
Canada.
She lives in Hancock with her husband, Antonio, a musician and
registered Maine kayak guide (visit

). Renata has one son, Chris
Ross, age 23, who is a singer/ songwriter/ musician with the band Stiff
Whisker and the Driftwood Kids. Renata is currently beginning to
sketch for a painting of the band playing.
